Greetings world, and welcome once again to Ring Smarts. In this edition I'll have a few things to talk about. First off the IWA have been approached by the ABC show, Recovery, about doing a story on the resurgence of Australian wrestling (The name of the story I printed in the Bagpipe Report #468 in case you missed it). The camera were at the IWA wrestling school in Kings Cross, talking to some of the students and catching some of the great International Wrestling Australia's action earlier in the week. They will also be at the 'IWA wrestling weekend' filming some more for national television coverage. Seems like everyone wants to see some IWA wrestling action close up. Those of you who watch 'the Panel' on channel 10 might have noticed that Santo Cilauro mentioned the IWA wrestling school as a possible choice of schooling for his young son. Santo your son may be a little young at the moment but take it from the Professor, the IWA school is the best Australian wrestling training has to offer.

Also I've just had news come through from the IWA suits that for the IWA heavyweight title match Bill Condoleon will be indeed be taking on 'the Machine' Mark Mercedes at the IWA's Shoot Out on Sunday 6th at Bankstown Trotting Club. Mercedes won the royal rumble at Thunderstruck 98 for the number one contender spot. Greg Von Stekker was originally scheduled to face Condoleon after rising to the number contender one spot earlier in the year. It was only after Mark Mercedes 'approached', to put it kindly, the IWA committee and demanded that he get his rightful title shot after outlasting 10 other men in the royal rumble that the committee finally saw the light and agreed to Mercedes request. Von Stekker is reportedly very unhappy about the situation and has been heard commenting that he will put on 'a display' with whoever he faces at Shoot Out And who Von Stekker is facing has just announced, it is none other than the TNT Kid. 'The Kid' has been in some good form of late so look for this one to lift the roof off.

And rounding off the matches so far for Shoot Out is 7ft Thunder facing Stephen Swann. Those of you who have taken in the sort of mood that Thunder has been in after the lost title match at Thunderstruck will know that he is one unhappy camper. I mean this guy has be seen no selling traffic lights and shooting his mouth off more than I do. In the past I have rated Thunder has dumb, I mean I've said things about the guy like he asks for price checks in a $2 shops or he takes 2 hours to watch 60 minutes. But maybe all this drumming at Thunder has finally had some effect. Just maybe Thunder has finally gotten himself a real mean streak. Lets face it, the guy is head and shoulder, pun intended, any Australian wrestler in the world. I think all he needs to take him to the top is some attitude, not this 'gentle giant' stuff. Hopefully that's what we'll see on the 'IWA Wrestling weekend'. Only time will tell whether Thunder has taken my advice on board and has finally turned over a new leaf. Be there at the Brawl in the Mall and the IWA Shoot Out to find out. But most of all remember one thing, you have to be good to be bad.
