Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) WAR!

Here some SCA guys beat the crap out of each other in the hot Australian bush.

Two groups of 'friends' from the same society but different branches hit each other with weighted rattan sticks - these are about the weight of a baseball bat, but they cannot splinter (so no lost eyes) and they have a little give, so they dont (usually) break bones.

The fighting is an honour system, if you get hit hard in the head, or body you are 'dead'. If you get hit in an arm or leg you cannot use that arm or leg.

It is important to be fair with this or one of the knights will come along and beat you black and blue to teach you a lesson - and with 20+ years experience they can do it
