Hopping around my apartment complex is a 3 legged dog that I see pretty much daily. Now you might not give a semi feral street dog much attention but here in Thailand you do or they'll sneak up and bite the back of your heel right at your Achilles tendon, or worse the other dogs in it's pack will join in and you'd better be willing to fight.
So paying attention to the personality of the dogs is a big must if you don't want to end up as dog food.
But this 3 legged dog, what is special about him, I mean besides missing a leg....

Alright after much delay and much sidestepping the issue I grabbed my phone out of my pocket after training today and asked a fellow that I have never seen before to take a few photos outside the gym.
Bigger Leaner And More Bearded Than Ever
Yep, I have a beard - why? I ran out of razors one day then forgot to buy them next 2 times I went to the supermarket and decided to grow it to get some new photos as I believe it gives my face and demeanor a totaly different aspect...

As an actor the roles you get will be less dependant upon your abilitites than the abilities of your agent.
A harsh reality, an even harsher reality when your agent isn't very experienced or has different goals than you do.
So how do you get a good acting agent?

Our movie, Bangkok Adrenaline, has finished its run in cinemas in Thailand - 7 weeks total, the longest run being in the touristic seaside resort - Pattaya. Bangkok Adrenaline was a cinematical success!
According to my knowledge in Thai cinema there several cut off points if your movie doesn't make monetary targets it is removed from cinema.
Bangkok Adrenaline made it past the two cut off points and was allowed to run until it stopped making profits....

Bangkok Adrenaline is finally released today 14th May 2009. 3 nights ago I attended the preview screening, held at Siam Paragon, Bangkok.
First up I was surprised, as this was the first I have heard about it, but the marketing team had decided to use me as the centre piece for some of the advertising posters, apparently they see me as being a minor celebrity here and thought I would be better known to the Northern audiences, since I have been in a few big budget releases already.

There are many Strength and Weight training for women programs available on the internet and most, if not all, I say are just junk made to try to sell something to women who are likely to know less about training and supplements than men are.
Now the reality for a strenght or weight training for women routine is that there will not be too much difference from a man's routine who is looking for the same end goals....

"Prior preparation prevents piss poor performance" this was the mantra chanted by our Corporals, Sergeants and Officers from the Australian Infantry that I did basic training with, and it holds so true that I though it needed a write up of it's own.
So many people have excuses why they did not do something, something did not work out the way it was 'planned' or why something just simply failed....

Funnily enough a lot of people I know who are outstanding in their own way, creative, overly intelligent, non-conformists seem to feel there is something wrong with them, that they are the odd ones out.
I admit there have been times when I thought life would have been much easier if I could be happy following the herd, doing the same as everyone else, enjoying the simple commercialised past times of everyone else, 9am to 5pm in a job I fell into for 40 years then retiring to 'enjoy' my retirement, old age and lack of health.
But I can't do that, and many people I know also do not fit into the 'accepted' social format, a lot of these people I have noticed feel like social outcasts....

Finally the movie that I moved to Thailand for has been released, 4 /12 years after I filmed in it we finally get to see it. For me it was very funny, a sense of deja vu, or in reality being taken back to that naive person who came and worked for peanuts in my 1st ever Thai film, though it was fair for what we did.
Back then I thought how good it would be to be seen on the big screen in my new temporary home and how good it would be to be recognised by a few avid movie fans who had watched the movie, and we waited, and waited.....

I was reading Sir Richard Branson's (owner of the Virgin group of companies and one of the most successful men on earth, builder of the fastest ever company to reach $1 billion turn over, etc) latest book the other day and came across one paragraph that stuck out in particular, in amongst a chapter on Entrepreneur and Leadership.
The simplicity and condensation of everything you need to know to not being a failure and becoming a success all boiled down to one simple paragraph....

These photos were taken in China during the filming of True Legend at the local gym.
The camera was my trust Nokia N95 which does not take good indoor photos and the pics are also a bit blurry as I got a local guy to take a couple dozen photos in a fast sequence and these were the best pics.
Finally Looking Like A 7 Foot Bodybuilder
Big Don (who is a professional movie animator) helped clean up the pics as best he could for me so here they are...

True Legend: the upcoming movie directed by the man behind the scenes with Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Kill Bill, and the Matrix series... a true legend in his own right... Yuen Woo Ping.
The True Legend movie (Su Qi-Er Chinese title) follows in the footsteps of Chinese movies with Asia wide cinema release that have gone Internationally successful, such as Fearless and Forbidden Kingdom, both of which Yuen Woo Ping was the Action Choreographer for.
I recently travelled to Beijing, China to have the great honour to work with Master Yuen on the True Legend movie, his first Directed movie in 12 or 20 years (depending who you ask)....

I'm in China again, and that can only mean one thing - Yes I am filming again - FINALLY!
It's been a long time since I worked in a large part, somewhat surprisingly that was in Chandni Chowk To China, where we were filming, somewhat not unsurprisingly in China for a time.
At the moment I am not sure how much I can reveal about the movie so I won't write too much today, and I'll find out how much I am allowed to reveal tomorrow - but I am sure I can for now say I am working with a Hong Kong legend, if not THE Hong Kong legend in the film industry.
Oh yeah, Nihow is Mandarin (Chinese mainland) for hello and it is bloody cold here, -9C to 2C (15F to 32F)
UPDATE: I am working with some ex-WWE Pro Wrestlers, some of the same guys as were in the Som Tam movie, and the Director is Yuan Woo Ping, the biggest name in Hong Kong stunts.

Just realised it is Christmas today - already, just goes to show how much of an event it is for me here in Asia.
Since all the Western Malls and Shopping centres have been playing annoying as heck crappy Christmas carols for the last two months now (something I am very glad to miss out on), here is an Interesting Christmas song from Jon Lajoie, a Canadian comedian making a bit of a name for himself on Youtube...

About 2 months ago now I travelled to Pattaya City for a day to film in the Thai movie E-Tim Tai Nae, the Director asked for me directly as I have worked with him before, so no casting involved just a negotiation on pay and how many days they want me for filming.
E-Tim Movie Poster
Turns out that the first time I was due to film was just after I returned from my latest trip to Australia, and ended up not being able to shoot as I had contracted Chicken Pox. Luckily for me they held the part and filmed later so I was able to appear in the movie...

YES! Drona is releasing in 2 weeks time, more showreel for me.
Today I scoured the web for information and it seems that my name is all over the place in connection with this Drona movie, great, it will be nice to see if the website traffic from India suddenly increases in 2 weeks time... I certainly am hoping it will.
Also I found the new theatrical trailer and a couple of released photos, so I can display these without breaking my NDA.

My first cover story since Drum Media in Sydney in 1998.
Pretty exciting for me, even though the Australian media dismisses me as a nobody and of little to no interest to the Australian audience as I am not on Australian TV, even though I cannot get an interview or article in Australia and no PR agent wants to represent me, those that I contacted and spoke to were disdainful and some where even somewhat condescending to me, when even some unnamed (you know who you are) management at the Sydney Dance Company outright said I was not of interest to the media....
Here I am Front cover and a 3 page internal story in a magazine that has a 24,000 member distribution....

First the Hanuman The White Monkey Warrior movie poster and now the Hanuman action movie trailer, and also another poster for this local produced movie, and an accompanying music video.
In the trailer I can be seen very, very briefy at the 54 second mark with the group of prize fighters (I am the biggest one of course) but am also wearing a ski mask so my face doesn't show.
In my final take I throw the hero across the room and then yell at him, to add dramatic effect (and to get my face onscreen) I pulled off the ski mask spat on the ground (in contempt) and yelled obscenities at the Hero now laying face down across the room...

It is now 2 years since I started this website, time flys fast. It only seems months ago that I was running around this new and strange town (Bangkok) trying to meet industry people with stars in my eyes and no idea of the culture nor the geography.
This time last year I was happy with the progress of my site, it was bringing in enough to survive upon and I was getting contacted for acting work.
So how has it all turned out in the last year....

In one of the world's oldest adages "It never rains it pours" - or maybe that is just an Australian saying - either way whenever the drought breaks it breaks good.
Actually that does sound Australian, I don't think many other parts of the world have floods directly after decade long droughts.
So again after not much work over the last 2 years it all suddenly comes at once, too much at once as it turns out...

Actually rejected is too harsh a word - the exact phrasing was "Conan, I'm sorry but the framing..." to which I laughed.
I knew it from the start, I was thinking how the heck are they going to frame me.
Oh, sorry 'framing' is a movie term, not like a gangster term as in "Lets frame Conan for murder", here come inside and I'll explain better...
